Edwards Arts Center

6-7 years
Morning, 9-12, Adventures in Textiles with Liz Eschholz
Let’s play around with some fabric, yarn, wool felt, and paper! In this camp we will have the opportunity to try several different creative techniques, including printing, stitching, dyeing, and gluing. Projects could include decorative bunting flags, nature-inspired wall hangings, quilting-inspired paper collage, God’s eyes, and small bags.

Afternoon, 1-4, Food Art with Yasamin Holland
Do you love tacos? Cake? Bagels? Seaweed Snacks? Campers will draw inspiration from their favorite breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and dessert in this week-long, mixed-media extravaganza. Illustration, printmaking, soft sculpture, collage, watercolor, clay, and wood are some of the media artists will explore. You can look forward to an art show on the final day of camp to celebrate a week of creativity and fun.

Afternoon, 1-4, Paper Castles with Audrey Parker
Explore how to build expansive castles and villages in this week of paper craft and storytelling. We will start by learning simple forms of 3D paper sculpture to make our structures and then experiment with the possibilities of these techniques alongside collage to bring them to life. Paired with storytelling and the history of castles, our castles will come alive with those who may have dwelled within.

11-13 years

Morning, 9-12, Drawing, Portraiture and Comics With Josie Colt
This week we will be exploring the art of drawing, portraiture and comics! We will learn about storytelling through comics and illustration. We will draw portraits of ourselves or people in our life. We will create our own short comics or cartoons, turning our thoughts and ideas into something on paper. We will also learn new illustration techniques, and more!

Afternoon, 1-4, Kitebuilding with Danae Lagoy
In this experimental tetrahedral kite building class we will incorporate illustration, printmaking, design, textiles and painting. We will problem-solve an infinitely expandable, variable, and futurist kite structure , and celebrate by (hopefully!) flying the kites outside. Each student will walk away from this class with their own tetrahedral kite and a glimpse into the complex history of human flight.
